Bringing Performance and Accessibility Together
David developed a modular thumb grip concept designed to improve precision and control on console controllers, while also supporting gamers with reduced hand dexterity. He had already built early prototypes that demonstrated the idea worked, but needed support to refine the design and create a clear route to market.
JNDC worked with David to progress the product through design for manufacture, cost forecasting, and compliance. Supported by independent safety testing through SGS UK Ltd, we ensured the grips met domestic-use and child-safety requirements.
Although the long-term intention was injection moulding, we advised launching via additive manufacturing. This tooling-free route provided a quicker, lower-risk entry to market and allowed iterative design improvements without the cost and delay of retooling. It was a strategic decision that supported early validation while preserving future scalability.
Thumb Soldiers is now trading successfully on its own e-commerce platform together with Amazon, eBay, and TikTok. Customer response has been enthusiastic, with reviews consistently praising the grip’s comfort, control, and thoughtful design.
With demand building, the product is now well placed to transition into injection moulding for higher-volume production. JNDC is proud to have supported both the technical development and the wider product strategy, helping turn an early prototype into a scalable and inclusive product range.
