We have an established reputation of working with cutting edge technologies on research and development projects. Since setting up JNDC, the company now has the industry wide recognition of being an "Airbus Approved Supplier" as well as achieving ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.
Director Profiles:
Jan Niklewicz: Engineering Director
Specialist Area: Analysis & Composites
Background:
Jan Niklewicz has an MSc in Materials Engineering from Imperial College London and a BEng (Hon) in Mechanical Engineering from Kingston University. Mr. Niklewicz spent over 10 years working at the National Physical Laboratory, where his role as a senior engineer included the development of analytical techniques (Mainly FEA but also hand calculations) for the prediction of failure in structures for various industries including aerospace structures. During this time he also became the Head of the Finite Element Analysis Group within the Materials Centre.
He joined Kingston University in 2001 where he became the Director of Mechanical Engineering within the faculty of Engineering; he was responsible for the smooth running of over ten courses from foundation level to master’s level, third party income consultancy work with industry.
He left Kingston and set up his own consultancy working with various companies from HVAC to aerospace and Formula one, and has published over twenty reports / papers / conference proceedings.
Jan Niklewicz is currently a member of the Aerospace Materials and Structures Technical Activity Committee for the IMechE.
Dean Carran: Operations / Quality Director
Specialist Area: Concept / Detailed Design & Quality
Background:
Dean has a First class Aerospace engineering design degree from Kingston University London. Dean undertook PHD research in aircraft fire safety in commercial aircraft, focusing on migration of toxic smoke and gasses within the cabin environment, with the view of identifying methods of adapting existing designs to increase passenger survivability.
Dean also worked as an engineer at Marshall Aerospace within the design office, reviewing problematic systems and designs related to military aircraft. Work focused on designing new structures to integrate with the aircraft's existing layout.
Dean became a lecturer at Kingston University teaching in the school of engineering as well as art and design. Subjects included engineering design, CAD design as well as design for manufacture varying from foundation level through to masters level.
In 2006 Dean set up an engineering design consultancy offering services from initial concept development through to detailed engineering design. Dean's projects were often shared with Jan Niklewicz, and in early 2008 the companies merged to form JNDC Ltd.
